Cape Horn Lofts

A small brick-and-timber paper warehouse on a quiet one-way street off the Embarcadero — Cape Horn stored bulk paper for the city's printers, engravers and lithographers into the 1980s, then converted in 1997 with a seismic retrofit by Pfau Architects and the involvement of the city's Landmarks Board.

Sixteen original live/work lofts (fifteen today, after a penthouse merger) make this one of the most intimate conversions in the city: heavy wood beams, real brick, and a boutique scale that the big South Beach buildings can't offer. Units here surface very rarely — this is a building you wait for.
